Spring Field Trip

Nelson Pioneer Farm

and Museum

The programs at NPFM will enrich your classroom curriculum with hands-on activities that meet at least one Iowa Core standard in social studies, STEM, or 21st century skills.

Note to teachers

We understand that it is easier to gather a large group of students together for a field trip, however, we would like to caution you that large groups do not learn as much nor have as much fun as smaller groups. Classes that visit NPFM are divided into smaller groups of 8-12 children. In the smaller group, the students get more hand's one experience and gain a greater understanding of the activity and correlating historical context. We can accommodate large groups by dividing into groups of more than 12 students, however, the student's experience is limited. We encourage you to schedule back-to-back days or morning and afternoon trips if have more than 36 students to come for a field trip.
