Genealogy Library - Closed for Renovation

Mahaska County Historical Society maintains a genealogy library in the museum at Nelson Pioneer Farm. Our genealogy library features numerous Mahaska County record books, family history books, area newspaper clippings, and interesting artifacts (i.e. letters from a Civil War captain to his bride describing his battles and life in the field). The library is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during our regular season.


We are closed for renovation beginning May 1, 2019. Feel free to call 641-672-2989 for requests and we will complete the research as we find the pertinent information or notify you when we reopen.


Thank you for your patience.

 

There is no admission fee to use our reading room. If our librarian conducts any research on your behalf, there is a $10 hourly fee for her time paid in advance.


Other fees include:

Scan with usage rights - $10 per image/document

B&W letter/legal copy - $.20 per copy

Color letter/legal copy - $.40 per copy

B&W 11" x 17" copy  - $.25 per copy

Color 11" x 17" copy  - $.50 per copy


Shipping and handling - 10% of cost + postage
